The Amazonian Chompers

Caribe Piranha

Meet the wild side of the water! Hailing all the way from the rivers of South America, the Caribe Piranha is famous for its razor-sharp teeth and powerful jaws. While Hollywood movies have given them a reputation for being ferocious and aggressive, they are actually fascinating fish that mostly feed on other small fish and aquatic plants! They have excellent senses, especially their super-powered sense of smell, which helps them track down their next snack in the murky river waters. Piranhas love to hang out in large groups called "shoals," working together like a perfectly synced underwater team. They might look a little intimidating behind the glass, but they are a hugely important part of their tropical ecosystem!
