About St Andrews Aquarium
An independent, family-owned aquarium and animal attraction on the beautiful Fife coast.

Our Story
Welcome to St Andrews Aquarium, a family-owned visitor attraction in one of Scotland’s most beautiful coastal towns.
Set beside the sea in St Andrews, we’re home to an incredible collection of animals from around the world, from native British sharks and rays to Humboldt penguins, meerkats, reptiles, amphibians, fish and fascinating creatures from habitats both above and below the water.
We’re more than just an aquarium. We’re a place for curious minds, animal lovers, families, school groups and visitors of all ages to get closer to nature, learn something new and enjoy a memorable day out visiting our animals by the coast.

More than 120 species to discover
Every visit to St Andrews Aquarium is packed with things to see, do and learn. Around every corner, you’ll meet animals with amazing stories, from the sharks and rays found in British waters to colourful tropical species, cheeky meerkats and our much-loved penguins.
Our team is passionate about helping visitors understand the animals in our care, their natural habitats and the challenges many species face in the wild. Whether you’re visiting for the first time or returning for another family day out, there is always something new to discover.

Conservation, education and animal care
At the heart of St Andrews Aquarium is a love for animals and a commitment to education.
Our exhibits are designed to inspire visitors to care more deeply about the natural world. Through daily keeper talks, feeding sessions and educational displays, we help bring important topics to life, from marine conservation and native wildlife to endangered species, habitats and environmental change.
Our Great British Sharks and Rays ocean tank was created in partnership with The Shark Trust, helping shine a spotlight on the incredible species found around our own coastline.

A family-owned aquarium with a big future
St Andrews Aquarium has proudly welcomed visitors to the East Coast of Fife for many years, and we’re now entering one of the most exciting chapters in our history.
Following the damage caused by Storm Babet in 2023, we announced ambitious redevelopment plans for the aquarium. This major investment will strengthen our coastal site, improve our visitor experience and create new spaces for animals, learning and family fun.
The project will be completed in phases and is expected to more than double the size of the attraction, helping protect the long-term future of St Andrews Aquarium for generations of visitors to come.
